SUMMER SEASON

I hope all is going well with the KMS BOOST athletes and families.  The weather is finally changing to summer up north.  We had a great first season,  the staff changes worked well and I feel that the program is headed in the right direction.  I will be returning as BOOST Program Directer and hope to have the coaching staff in place by July.   Thanks again for all the support for the past season.

FEB 25 GS on NEEDLES EYE

The ladies of BOOST joined the KMS full time girls J1, 2 and 3s for some full length GS on Needles Eye.  The snow was western style and soft under foot.  The athletes had to focus on maintaining a high line through the entire run.  They also could not over pressure in the softer snow conditions.  It was great training and the sun was great to see!!!!!!!!!

The boys will go out this afternoon to ski GS with J3 boys for open GS on Needles as well.

Feb 4 SLALOM for ALL

The BOOST girls joined the full time KMS women today for a 40 gate slalom on Needles eye.  There were 15 ladies skiing on the soft snow which made for some wild ruts and wild rides.  BOOST athletes were able to watch the older ladies hammer runs and get an idea of what is to come.

The BOOST boys joined the J3 men for some great slalom training in the PM on High line.  There were 35 gates starting half way down the pitch and running well onto the flats.  The boys were learning to carry speed onto flats and generate through the final 10 gates of flat terrain.

Both boys and girls ended the day with dry land with there respective groups.  Captains ran a workout of spinning, mobility and light core.

Both men and women will split again tomorrow for more Slalom training!!!!!

Nicole's BACK!!

Nicole's Back!! It was a great first day back on the hill with the BOOST J4's! The J3's had the day off since they had a Super G race yesterday. Bruce started morning sport this morning, with a short spin on the bike followed by mobility stretching and balance work. This afternoon the J4's headed up to Bunny Buster to do some SL. We set two courses; they got 5 runs on the first course followed by 3 drill runs while we reset, and 5 more runs on a second course!! I got tons of pictures and video of the kids. This afternoon, during their free periods- they came in to watch 6 runs of video of their SL training this morning. For afternoon sport, we will do a light spin, stretching and core. We will end by going over some forms they need to fill out about their history and about their goals. These are due tomorrow morning.
Check out the link on the right for my Picasa Pictures...
It's great to be back out on the hill with Bruce and all the kids!

Jan 28

Today the BOOST women joined Lon and the KMS ladies for slalom training on Bunny.  It was cold snowy and extra windy so no pics today SORRY!  The course was a normal slalom with a double stack every third gate.  Good results, working on basics!  Back To GS for Thursday.

The snow just came coming and the boys had a choice of workout in the gym or a free skiing afternoon.  The group split and some braved the mountain while others stayed in with Coach Johnston and did a light lift and stretch.  The boys will head to Pico for a new GS venue!

Jan 27

The BOOST athletes skied on High Line today.  They were set a slalom course from about half way down the pitch.   The bottom  flats were used to set up a double stack drill which you will see in photos.  They skied well and were able to focus on hand position from the double stack.

Jan 23rd BOOST

The BOOST J4 program ran GS today on High Line for the first time.  They were given a preview of the race to come on Sunday.  They got to feel the piste and a relatively similar set to the one they may see this weekend.  The skiing was awesome and we had KMS Men's Head coach Parker Gray on the Hill as well as a guest from the US ski team,  Tom Sell Head Europa Men's Cup Coach.  The athletes were pumped about the expert coaching staff joining in on their training.  They got 4-5 runs and will see more tomorrow.

The BOOST J3 squad split between slalom training on High Line and heading to White Face for the ERS series.  Greg trained slalom with the athletes while Tim got the short card and had to drive to NY.
